2013 British Grand Prix MotoGP Video
The closest finish so far in the 2013 MotoGP Championship occurred this past weekend at Silverstone during some competitive racing at the British Grand Prix.
And although he was a favorite after taking four-straight wins ahead of Silverstone, Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez was beat to the finish line by a mere 0.008 of second.
The man who beat the 20-year-old rookie? Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo. Starting from second on the grid, the reigning MotoGP Champion – who broke his left shoulder at Assen and then again at Sachsenring – got to turn one first.
Though Marquez and Lorenzo swapped the lead multiple times during the final laps of Silverstone MotoGP, the two-time MotoGP Champion was able to beat out his fellow Spaniard. Taking the final podium position was Marquez’s teammate, Dani Pedrosa.
With his second-place finish, Marquez continues to lead the championship, 30 points ahead of Pedrosa, and 39 ahead of Lorenzo.
