Portimao hosted the sixth round of the 2013 World Superbike Championship this past weekend, with many familiar riders finishing on the podium.

One of these riders was BMW Motorrad GoldBet’s Marco Melandri, the Italian taking the win ahead of Aprilia Racing Team’s Sylvain Guintoli and the man who took his fifth pole of 2013 World Superbike at Portimao, Kawasaki Racing’s Tom Sykes.

Melandri, who also won Race 1 at Monza, wasn’t so lucky in race two, though. He would struggle, finishing 12th. As for the race-two winner, Aprilia Racing Team’s Eugene Laverty earned his fourth race win this season.

Joining Laverty on the race-two podium was Guintoli and Pata Honda World Superbike’s Jonathan Rea.

Though Laverty has more wins than Guintoli, the Frenchman’s solid podium finishes – he hasn’t finished off the podium in six rounds – allowed him to retain the points lead. With six of 15 rounds complete, Guintoli has 213 points, leading Sykes by 28 points.

Attached below are video highlights of Portimao World Superbike, including highlights from Portimao World Supersport and the series 2013 hero, Yamaha’s Sam Lowes.
