2014 Honda MotoGP NewsIn efforts to lower costs in MotoGP, Honda has been working on a new prototype that will replace the current RC213V currently piloted by the Honda riders in MotoGP (Repsol’s Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez; Honda Gresini’s Alvaro Bautista; LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl).
The new model will be unveiled by the end of 2013, and teams will begin using the bike (RC214V?) in 2014.Honda’s keeping hush on the details, but released a statement and photo following a two-day test at Twin Ring Motegi circuit in Japan.Shuhei Nakamoto (Executive Vice President of Honda Racing Corporation) says: “Development of the model is currently a little behind schedule but the test results showed more than what we had expected, in particular, with its running performance.“We can’t announce its name or the specification at this stage but we will have an opportunity of announcing the details in the not too distant future. We will keep on developing the machine to meet the 2014 MotoGP technical and sporting regulations, and will introduce the model by the end of this year.”

This week, in the first segment Editor Don Williams talks to us about the new Kawasaki Versys 650 LT. It’s the middleweight ADV style machine that uses the same 650 parallel twin motor as the Ninja 650, so it’s an excellent performer in a user-friendly, good looking package.
In the second segment, I chat with one of my dearest industry friends—now retired Honda PR executive, Jon Seidel. Jon’s fascinating career spans some 30 years with Big Red, and gave him some great experiences with some incredible machines. I was fortunate enough to be invited on many of the press launches that he organized. His new project is documenting and saving many of the old archives from years gone by—and incidentally, if you have anything that may be of value to the project, please contact us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll pass it all on to Jon.
So on that note, from all of us here at Ultimate Motorcycling, we hope you enjoy this episode!
