Isle of Man TT winner Cameron Donald may not have taken the top step of the podium at the 2012 Isle of Man TT fueled by Monster Energy, but he did collect two other awards.
The Australian, riding for Wilson Craig Honda, finished second in both Monster Energy Supersport races and the Dainese Superbike TT.
He also took 10th in the Royal London 360 Superstock and fourth in the re-introduced Lightweight TT, now for SuperTwin machines.
Although he missed out on victory by just one place three times – including by just 0.77 of a second, one of the closest finishes in TT history, in the first Monster Energy Supersport race – Donald always kept a smile on his face.
It was this positive attitude which, according to the TT Supporters’ Club Winter 2012 magazine, earned Donald one of his accolades.
The magazine reports: “Race commentator Charlie Lambert’s unofficial award for TT Personality of the Week went to Cameron Donald who, quoting Charlie’s blog, ‘finished in the silver medal position in three races and accepted all three results with sportsmanship, generosity to the winners and a humble attitude towards the event and its history.'”
That wasn’t the only award. The magazine also reports Donald’s consistent form during the 2012 TT also earned him the TTSC Club Trophy, a silver tray on a plinth, which recognizes the best overall performance across the two Supersport races.
The TTSC magazine, published twice a year, is sent to members as part of their £15 annual membership subscription package.
