Casey Stoner News
The times couldn’t be better for MotoGP’s Casey Stoner. After totally dominating last season aboard the Repsol Honda enroute to his second MotoGP Championship, the Australian celebrated another feat Thursday – becoming a father.
Repsol Honda reported that the 26-year-old rider and his wife Adriana welcomed their daughter, Alessandra, into the world at 9:55 p.m. in a hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Repsol Honda confirmed the news through a Tweet, which read "We are very happy to announce that Alessandra Stoner was born on the 16th of February at 9:55pm, weighing 2.8 kilos. Both mother and baby are doing well."
Ironically, Casey Stoner’s child was born on the 33rd birthday of his rival, Ducati Team’s Valentino Rossi. This brought out much commentary across social-media platforms Thursday.
Stoner will have two weeks to relax with his daughter before getting back to work at Sepang for the second official test of 2012 MotoGP Feb. 28 through March 1. During the first official test at Sepang, the reigning MotoGP champ dominated. The first round of 18 rounds gets underway April 8 at Qatar.
