Zero Motorcycles Recall
Zero Motorcycles is recalling certain model 2011-2012 electric motorcycles due to brake-light switch malfunctioning.
Zero says 450 of the following models were affected:
- 2011-2012 Zero DS
- 2011-2012 Zero S
- 2011-2012 Zero XU
- 2011 Zero MXD
- 2011 Zero XD
- 2012 Zero X
Zero says the brake-light switch may not activate until significant brake-lever travel occurs, not alerting motorcyclists when the affected motorcycles are slowing down. This malfunction could lead to a crash.
Zero will notify owners and dealers will inspect, and if necessary, replace the front brake system brake-light switch free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on or about July 16.
Owners may contact Zero Motorcycles at 1-831-438-3500; owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153), or visit safercar.gov.
