The American Brandon Cretu, who made his debut in the Isle of Man TT in 2010, will make his Macau Grand Prix debut this November.
Cretu will pilot a Honda CBR1000RR at Macau on Nov. 18 with backing from lontime TT sponsor HEL Performance, and new sponsor RevZilla.com, an online motorcycle accessories/apparel store.
Brandon Cretu says: “I am so excited to finally get the amazing opportunity to race at the Macau GP. I really enjoyed my time there last year even though I didn’t get to ride. I see the same racers in Macau as I do at the TT so even though we are on the other side of the world I still feel at home with my racing ‘family.’
“The entry list is stacked this year with plenty of Macau veterans and quite a few newcomers so I know I will have my work cut out for me. Luckily I am bringing along my crew chief from TT 2011 who took me to my first Bronze Replica as well as two other trusted crew members so I feel I will be as best prepared as possible.
“Along with this I feel I have plenty of friends in the paddock that will be willing to give me a few pointers here and there to help me get up to speed quickly.
Last year, Cretu traveled to the Macau GP to work for Splitlath/Redmond Aprilia and fellow American rider Mark Miller. This gave him a good chance to see the course up close and do some homework, the IOMTT reports.
