The 2012 MotoGP Championship headed to an emotional Sepang circuit Sunday, the same track where last year San Carlo Honda Gresini’s Marco Simoncelli passed after a crash.
Besides the memorials at the track, the riders decided the best dedication to the late “Super Sic” would be speculator racing. And though rain plagued the GP, causing the event to be eventually red flagged, the riders put in some great performances.
But it was filled with many crashes, as is expected in wet conditions. But when the race was complete, it would be Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa who took the win ahead of Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo and the other Repsol rider, Casey Stoner.
This was Pedrosa’s sixth win of 2012 MotoGP, and third straight. It was also the first time the Spaniard won in wet conditions.
With his win, Pedrosa now trails series leader Lorenzo by 23 points with two rounds remaining and 50 points up for grabs.
