Star newcomer Lee Johnston will return to the Isle of Man TT in 2013 with Millsport Racing Ducati, the team has confirmed.

He will race the team’s 1199 Panigale as well as a new Supersport bike, supplied by Phil Reed (East Coast Construction).

Johnston will also contest the British superstock championship and race at the North West 200 and Ulster Grand Prix.

This season was the start of a new project for the Ballymoney-based Millsport team, competing with the new Ducati 1199 Panigale. The package proved competitive, with a 2nd at the NW200 and at Donington Park in the British superstock championship – only getting pipped to the line by 0.0001 of a second in that race.

Next year the team will have more assistance from the factory and Ducati UK.

Patrick Murray says: “We are delighted to have Lee with us for the 2013 season as he has proved he can be at the front in the road races as well as the competitive British superstock championship.

“We have made massive steps with the new bikes this season and with new parts and the data we have got through this year will mean we hope to be competitive from the start of the season.”

Lee Johnston says: “It’s great to have next year’s deal done as the team and I have proved to be a package that can push for the top step!

“This year has been a learning year for us with the new bikes, but we are going in the right direction and with a testing program through the winter planned we should be on the mark come the first round of the championship.”
