2012 Laguna Seca MotoGP Qualifying Results
The 1000cc era of MotoGP proved its massive speeds once again at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca Saturday during qualifying.
The record-breaking times began Friday when Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa broke the circuit record; Pedrosa posted a best lap of 1:21.088, beating the circuit record set by Casey Stoner while with Ducati in 2010 (1:21.376).
But when the hour-long qualifying session got underway Saturday, Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo was the man to beat, the Spaniard setting an even faster pace than Pedrosa.
