Honda World Superbike Corners, Episode 3

The third episode of Honda’s SBK Classic Corners takes viewers to the Netherlands for an inside look at the Geert Timmer (GT) chicane at Assen TT.

The Geert Timmer at “The Cathedral” of motorsports is considered the “do or die” chicane, and has determined the outcome of many World Superbike and MotoGP races over the past few years.

Honda World Superbike says: “Offering one of the few passing opportunities, the Geert Timmer chicane is also Assen’s final corner and needs to be executed perfectly to carry speed on to the start-finish straight for a fast lap of the circuit.”

In the video above, current Honda WSBK riders Jonathan Rea and Hiroshi Aoyma discuss the Geert Timmer. Also offering comment is the press officer of the Assen TT Circuit, Peter Schorer, and Ronald ten Kate, manager of the Honda World Superbike Team, which is based just 55 kilometers from Assen.

Check out what the group had to say about the Geert Timmer in the video above.

The SBK Classic Corners series shows footage and provides commentary on some of the most iconic corners in World Superbike, all of them currently on the WSBK calendar: Turn 12 at Phillip Island, Acque Minerali at Imola, Gert Timmer at Assen, the Parabolica at Monza and Craner Curves at Donington.
