Honda World Superbike Classic Corners, Episode 1

The Honda World Superbike team recently released the first of five episodes in its new motorcycle cornering series, SBK Classic Corners.

In this episode, Honda World SBK riders Jonathan Rea and Hiroshi Aoyama, along with Rea’s Crew Chief Chris Pike and Pirelli’s Giorgio Barbier, discuss Turn 12 at Phillip Island, the circuit that opened the 2012 World Superbike Championship.

Honda World SBK says Turn 12 is the “long, long, long left-hander just before the downhill start-finish straight, which is so critical for a quick lap of the picturesque 2.76-mile circuit.

“It’s a corner that demands a lot of riders and, perhaps, even more of the tires underneath them, which are on their left shoulder for a very long time, generating some spectacular slides and remarkably high temperatures.”

Check out what the group had to say about Turn 12 in the video above.

The SBK Classic Corners series shows footage and provides commentary on some of the most iconic corners in World Superbike, all of them currently on the WSBK calendar: Turn 12 at Phillip Island (video above), Acque Minerali at Imola, Gert Timmer at Assen, the Parabolica at Monza and Craner Curves at Donington.
