So far in the first seven rounds of the 2012 MotoGP Championship, only two riders have been victorious – Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo (four) and Repsol Honda’s Casey Stoner (three).

And the last bout went to Stoner Sunday after the RC213V rider won the Dutch Grand Prix in Assen. Stoner was joined on the Assen podium by his teammate Dani Pedrosa and Monster Tech 3 Yamaha’s Andrea Dovizioso.

Stoner’s rival Lorenzo, though, didn’t have a chance to put up a fight during the 26-lap race at one of the most technical circuits on the 18-round MotoGP calendar; the Spaniard suffered a DNF following a turn-one crash. Lorenzo was sent to the ground after his fellow countryman Alvaro Baustia hit him. The San Carlo Honda Gresini rider was penalized for the crash, and will start this upcoming weekend’s German Grand Prix at Sachsenring from the last position.
