Honda Previews Phillip Island SBK (Video)

2012 World Superbike

The Honda World Superbike team is primed for the 2012 World SBK Championship, which gets underway this weekend at Phillip Island, Australia.

This year, the team features a two-rider lineup to compete for points aboard the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade that celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2012 – Jonathan Rea and former MotoGP pilot Hiroshi Aoyama.

When the first official test of 2012 WSBK wrapped up Tuesday at Phillip Island, Rea was fourth fastest, 0.265 of a second slower than the overall leader Carlos Checa (Althea Ducati). Aoyama was 14th quickest, just over a second slower than Rea.
