MotoGP’s Lorenzo to Lap Buddh in India

Buddh International Circuit

This week, MotoGP Champion Jorge Lorenzo traveled to New Delhi, India, to do some promotion work for Yamaha at the Auto Expo 2012, India’s largest automobile show.

But Lorenzo has other plans, also. The Spaniard, who competes on the factory Yamaha M1 with teammate Ben Spies, will be the first MotoGP pilot to lap the brand-new track that has hosted Formula 1, the Buddh International Circuit.

Lorenzo will ride a Yamaha R15 around the track Wednesday, learning the layout that may possibly be on the MotoGP schedule in the future.

Speaking to the Times of India, Lorenzo says he is "especially interested in visiting a country I’m not familiar with, but one in which the passion for motorcycling has grown enormously in recent years.

"Recognized as one of the best in the world, this track has already hosted a Formula 1 Grand Prix and is expected to also host a MotoGP race in the near future."
