Jerez Hosts Private MotoGP/Moto2 Test
2012 MotoGP/Moto2 Testing
Private testing will be held at the Spanish Jerez circuit Wednesday through Friday as teams prep for the 2012 season. A few MotoGP and Moto2 teams will participate in the test, including the Ducati Team.
But the official riders – Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden – won’t be at the Jerez circuit for the test on the Desmosedeci GP12. Rossi will be participating in the Monza Rally Show, and Hayden will be stateside as he recovers from wrist surgery due to the first-lap crash at the MotoGP finale in Valencia.
But there will be much talent piloting the GP12 – 2011 World Superbike Champion Carlos Checa nad Ducati test rider Franco Battaini.
Once America that will present at the Jerez private tests will be Colin Edwards. The Texan will make his debut on the Suter BMW CRT (Claiming Rule Teams) machine, developing the NGM Forward Racing motorcycle for the 2012 season. Also present will be Colombian rider Yonny Hernandez on a BQR Team Kawasaki FTR machine.
MotoGP reports that the following Moto2 teams will be present at the test: Mobile NGM Forward Racing with team riders Alex de Angelis and Yuki Takahashi, Marc VDS Racing Team with riders Scott Redding and Mika Kallio, the Aspar Team with Nico Terol and Toni Elías, Pons Racing with Pol Espargaró and Esteve Rabat and the Gresini Moto2 Team with British rider Gino Rea.
