2012 AMA Supercross

Shortly after the news of three-time AMA champion James Stewart signing with Toyota/Yamaha JGRMX, assumptions began surfacing about who would be his teammate.

But on Monday, all assumptions were laid to rest as Joe Gibbs Racing team announced that it would retain veteran rider Davi Millsaps, who competed on the JGRMX Supercross/Motocross team in 2011.

Millsaps, who finished eighth with 180 points in 2011 AMA Supercross and 10th in 2011 AMA Motocross, has nine amateur titles, and a Lites Supercross Championship. Millsaps low-point of 2011 AMA Motocross came at Red Bud, where he injured his knee and had to undergo subsquent surgery.

Davi Millsaps (JGRMX Yamaha YZ450F) says: "I have a lot of confidence in the people who make up this team, and my Yamaha is really dialed in year. With my fitness where it should be I think we are going to have the strongest team out there."

Coy Gibbs (President of the Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX team) says: "Davi is really talented, but has been saddled with injuries the past couple of years. I think this is going to be a really good year for him," said Coy Gibbs, President of the Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX Team.

Jeremy Albrecht (JGRMX Team Manager) says: "I am glad Davi chose to remain in the Joe Gibbs Racing family, he was riding really well until his knee injury at Red Bud where he led half the first moto. He is fully recovered from the subsequent surgery and I feel is as prepared as he has ever been starting a new season."

Millsaps and his teammate Stewart will begin the AMA Supercross Championship Series Jan. 7, 2012 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim in Anaheim. Calif.
