2012 MotoGP

Following a respectable fifth-place finish at Motegi Sunday, Round 15 of the 2011 MotoGP Championship, Marco Simoncelli remained at the Twin Ring circuit for additional testing Monday

At Motegi, which is owned by Honda, Simoncelli participated in the first testing of the 1000cc bike that he will ride in 2012 MotoGP – the RC213V.

During the test, Simoncelli was able "discover the potential" of the RC213V, and provide feedback to the San Carlo Honda Gresini team. Following the test, Simoncelli went to the Phillippines for a short break before 16th round of MotoGP at Phillip Island, Australia, Oct. 16.

Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini MotoGP) says: "The big day finally arrived and I was able to test the bike I will be riding in Team San Carlo Honda Gresini colors next year.

"It was a fantastic experience to get out on the RC213V and I would like thank HRC for the opportunity. I completed 50 laps and quickly felt confident with the new bike, setting similar lap times to the RC212V.

"At the end of the day I gave my feedback and suggestions, which I hope will be important to development of the bike from here. Now I am taking some days off on the island of Boracay in the Philippines before the next race at Phillip Island."
