American Wins Silverstone Superstock 600

2011 European Superstock 600

It was a great weekend in Silverstone for one American in the 2011 European Supertock 600 Championship, which ran in conjunction with World Superbike.

Joshua Day piloted his Revolution Racedays Kawasaki to the win at Silverstone Superstock 600; the Orlando native Day became the sixth different winner in the series so far.

In a sprint finish to the line Day got the edge on Australian Jed Metcher (MTM-RT Motorsports Yamaha) and Italian Riccardo Russo (Trasimeno Yamaha), who stepped onto the podium for the first time in his debut STK600 season.

Following his win, Day moved to third in the Superstock Championship with 76 points, 18 behind the STK600 leader Romain Lanusse (Yamaha YZF-R6). Day has on the podium three out of six Superstock 600 races.

But Day wasn’t the only happy American at Silverstone; in the World Superbike event, which was swept by Althea Ducati’s Carlos Checa, John Hopkins took the pole position aboard a Samsung Crescent Suzuki GSX-R1000. During the races, Hopkins finished fifth in Race 1, and eighth in Race 2.
