Superbike: Rea Refreshed For Miller

Superbike News

Following his bold, brash and brilliant runner-up World Superbike performance at Kyalami, which hauled him into third place in the standings behind Haslam and Biaggi, Jonathan Rea found some time to relax by spending a few days in California before moving on to Salt Lake City for this weekend’s Miller Motorsports Park WSBK round.

"I’ve had a good few days acclimatizing in America, staying with my manager Chuck Aksland in a town called Copperopolis, near San Francisco. It’s in Copper Valley, so you can probably imagine what they mined here. I’ve been playing some golf and watched the AMA Motocross at Hangtown last weekend. Now it’s time to get back to business at Miller which I’m quite optimistic about."

Last season, on the Utah track, Rea scored a third and a fifth place but this time round is aiming to do better.

"We know the bike works well there and I really enjoy riding at the circuit, so we’re going with the intention of at least two podium finishes," he added.

"We lost our way a bit on the Saturday at Kyalami but still managed to grind out two decent results. We’ll keep working around the good base setting that we’ve found this year, which is the one we usually end up going back to, but I definitely need to qualify well at Miller to ensure that I get away near the front in Monday’s races."
