Sunny skies and air temperature of 28 degrees have welcomed the 800cc riders today for the 60-minute free practice session which saw Stoner on the top of the time sheets.
LCR Honda MotoGP Team rider Randy De Puniet has every reason to believe he can challenge for a front-running result after an impressive start to the season at Losail where he qualified a superb fourth quickest and finished in sixth place, just seven seconds off the podium.

Randy De Puniet (13th) says: "Todays session did not go as we planned as we have faced some issues about shifting and I was not very comfortable. Then I came out on my second bike doing acceptable lap times but I felt the engine was too aggressive and we must work on this tonight. Anyway we had some little improvements at the end of the session and I have started to get comfortable."
"I lapped on same tyres for the whole session and my best lap time came out at the end on a 25-lap tyre so I believe we have got the potential to improve in tomorrows sessions. I was not looking for the best placement today".
