‘The Scorpions’ to Rock Sturgis Bike Rally

Metal and Iron Concert

For the first time ever, the Legendary Buffalo Chip welcomes German heavy metal rockers, The Scorpions to their Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Week music lineup.

The veteran rockers known for capturing the hearts of hard rock music fans around the world for over four decades recently announced that their upcoming world tour and new album will be their last.

But before they officially hang up their leathers, the Scorpions are guaranteed to rock the Chip’s infamous music amphitheatre and solidify its reputation as the best party anywhere.

The legendary band originally from Hannover, Germany, combines unforgettable melody, intricate guitar riffs and booming vocals to create a sound that cannot be mimicked.

Proving that Germany can indeed rock, the Scorpions have written and performed a myriad of hits throughout their career including 1980’s rock anthem "Rock You like a Hurricane" and 1990 ballad, "Wind of Change". They also had a number of successful singles including "No One like You", "Send Me an Angel" and "Still Loving You".

The Scorpions unmistakable sound and distinctive style reminiscent of Jimmy Hendrix, Cream and Led Zeppelin resulted in over 22 million records sold making them one of the most successful rock bands to ever come out of Continental Europe. With their polished, hard-edged melodic rock and dramatic power singing, the Scorpions have come to epitomize the best in heavy rock.

Looking to conclude their extraordinary legacy on a high note they are calling it quits with an album considered to be one of the best they have ever recorded and a world tour that will start in their home country of Germany and span five continents over the new few years. Their new album, "Sting in the Tail", was released March 19 and the "Get Your Sting and Blackout" tour will kick off May 7.

If you’re a rock and roll fan you won’t want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the legendary musicians perform their popular favorites, introduce new hits and celebrate their musical achievements with a crowd of rowdy Chipsters as they bring their unforgettable journey to a close.

In addition to the Scorpions, the Chip has been staying busy securing an unbeatable array of world-class artists during Sturgis Bike Rally Week 2010. Already on the agenda are musical behemoths ZZ Top, Disturbed, Kid Rock and the Doobie Brothers, with more names to be announced in the coming months.
