Larry Pegram race 1 interview VIR

AMA Superbike: Race 1

Foremost Insurance Pegram Ducati pilot Larry Pegram finished 12th in the first of two races during the Virginia AMA Pro American Superbike weekend. An off-track excursion in the race took Pegram out of the top ten but the Ohio native continued to turn impressive lap times on his Ducati 1098R after running through the grass.

The winner of the two previous American Superbike races was disappointed in the result but positive about his chances in the second race on Sunday.

12th – Larry Pegram Speaks…

"I was too aggressive at the beginning. I was trying to get by Ben (Bostrom) because I could see Josh (Hayes) getting away and I just got too hot into the corner. I couldn’t get stopped and ran off," said Pegram. "I was really mad then and I did it again, same corner. I came here to win and I think we had a good chance to put the Ducati 1098R on the podium today. As mad as I am about the race, I’m happy with our lap times because they show we were doing pretty well. We’ll come back tomorrow and do our best. I’m glad we have another shot at it and I’m looking forward to racing a second one this weekend."

Tomorrow’s 23-lap American Superbike race begins at 4:20 local time, with same-day coverage on Speed TV.
