Pikes Peak Motomarathon set for Sept. 11-14

The Motomarathon Association has scheduled the Pikes Peak Motomarathon for September 11-14, 2009, setting the stage for the first organized series of motorcycle sport-touring events based on its four-day, secret route format.

"Our first endurance ride, the Colorado Motomarathon held earlier this summer, established a new criteria for organized sport-touring," said Motomarathon Association Founder John Metzger. "With our second event, we’re building on this foundation by recording rider standings within an annual series of events around the country."

With routes kept secret until the night before each ride, riders logged a sequence of self-photographed check-points along the Colorado Motomarathon’s carefully chosen routes, averaging 400 miles each day through the state’s northern and central mountains.

"The Pikes Peak Motomarathon will capture the essence of Southern Colorado, the incredible San Juan Range, the immensity of the Pikes Peak region, with perhaps a dip into northern New Mexico," said Metzger.

The ride will start and end at BMW, Ducati and Harley-Davidson dealership Pikes Peak Motorsports, 5867 N. Nevada Ave., #150
