Yamaha SuperKart exhibition at Laguna Seca

Last Friday afternoon, June 26 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, three Legends of Laguna Seca: Kenny Roberts Sr., Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey and their crews took to the track to shake down the Yamaha SuperKarts to get ready for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. Valentino Rossi was not able to join the practice as he was busy scoring his 100th victory in Assen, the Netherlands. The Grand Marshal, Colin Edwards, was also busy in Assen finishing fourth on his YZR-M1.

"The most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever driven," said Roberts. Lawson, after testing Rossi’s SuperKart said "I cannot believe its perfect right out of the trailer." Rainey spent the session driving and came into the pits with a big smile on his face.

The Yamaha SuperKart Exhibition will kick off the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix on Thursday July 2 at 3:30 p.m. The SuperKart Exhibition is free and the paddock opens up to spectators at 1:00 p.m..

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was established in 1957. The world-renowned raceway has been operated since its inception by the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), a not-for-profit 501C(4) corporation. Each race season, SCRAMP donates its net proceeds to the volunteer groups that help put on the races.

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s world-class 2009 racing schedule includes the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix featuring MotoGP World Championship July 3-5, the 36th Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races August 14-16 and the Monterey Sports Car Championships featuring the American Le Mans Series October 9-11.
