Supercross Stars Urge Action Against the CPSIA Lead Ban.

Some of the biggest stars of Supercross and leaders in the powersports industry are calling for action in two new videos targeting the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act that has banned the sale of youth-model motorcycles and ATVs.

"I understand what they’re trying to do, but they’re doing it in the wrong way," said Supercross and motocross champion James Stewart. "It’s not saving anyone, it’s hurting everyone."

The videos, with 12 commentaries long and short can be viewed at, titled, "CPSIA Rider Reactions – Professional Riders, Racers, MX champions and World Class Athletes Talk About the Impact of CPSIA" and "CPSIA Riders Reach Out – Supercross Stars Urge Action."

The footage was shot at the St. Louis Supercross round on March 21 and was a collaboration among the Motorcycle Industry Council, Feld Entertainment, Monster Energy Supercross and factory-backed racing teams of Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha.

The CPSIA lead ban has the potential to completely change the sport of motocross, according to Stewart, other riders and industry representatives interviewed:

"All of these pros understand what’s at stake for upcoming riders, their families, thousands of powersports employees, many small businesses and major manufacturers, too," said Paul Vitrano, General Counsel, Motorcycle Industry Council. "It says a lot that these heroes and so many in the industry are working together and doing everything possible to get this damaging lead law changed."
