At the same time we are getting our first tastes of 2007, Kawasaki is enthusiastically giving us a sneak preview of the next model year. Based on James Stewart’s ’06 World Supercross Championship-winning KX450F, the KLX450R brings Kawasaki into the modern off-road four-stroke battle. To make the KLX more effective off-road than the on-track KX, Kawasaki has revised the cam timing, increased flywheel weight for a more tractable motor. Other KLX450R-specific features include a wide-ratio five-speed transmission, an 18-inch rear wheel, 2.1-gallon fuel tank, digital instrument cluster and electric starting to complement the kickstarter.
