Feld Motor Sports announced today that CBS Sports will broadcast the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open Sunday, October 17 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. EST, featuring the world’s top supercross racers competing in a one-class-one-champion format that awards $100,000 to the overall winner.
CBS Sports will give viewers an inside look at the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open and follow the emerging story lines throughout the 90-minute program. Both nights of racing and in-depth features will highlight the broadcast.
Feld Motor Sports announced today race format enhancements for the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open inside Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena October 9-11, including the MMI Mechanics Challenge and head-to-head racing. Each of these challenges present opportunities for racers to earn points that will be added to their two-night racing totals.
The head-to-head racing will be comprised of the top 10 finishing riders from timed practice. Racers will be pitted against one another in a head-to-head, one lap race.
The 2009 Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open will feature two distinctly different track designs for this year’s race inside Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, featuring the largest finish line jump in the event’s history.
The six technical lanes will challenge riders and entertain fans inside the intimate MGM Grand Garden Arena. This year’s track will be a combination of the-best-of-the-best obstacles taken from the last nine years of the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open, including the mammoth finish line jump that will span nearly 75 ft.
