After an electrifying start to the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, last weekend at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., Phoenix’s Chase Field will host the tour’s second stop this Saturday. Defending AMA Supercross class champion James Stewart, who rides for San Manuel Yamaha, and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Jake Weimer lead their respective divisions heading into Phoenix.

Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing’s Ryan Dungey and Team Manager Roger De Coster helped Team USA capture its record 20th Motocross of Nations overall victory in Franciacorta, Italy, this past weekend. Motocross legend De Coster once again acted as team manager for Team USA, providing guidance and race strategy for the three-man U.S. team that included 2009 AMA Supercross Lites Champion and 2009 AMA 250 Motocross Champion Dungey.
Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey celebrated his first AMA Motocross 250 class championship at the final round of the series at Steel City Raceway in Delmont, Pennsylvania, on Saturday afternoon. Dungey came into the final round leading the championship by 17 points and when the gate dropped, the young Minnesota rider did not disappoint. Dungey rode two impressive motos on his Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z250, finishing second overall after carding two second-place motos finishes.
Round 8 – AMA Motocross Series – Washougal Motocross Park
Chad Reed continues to dominate AMA Motocross as the twotime AMA Supercross Champion picked up another victory this past weekend. Reed won both 450 class motos to take the overall victory at Washougal Motocross Park in Washougal, Washington, on Saturday afternoon. With this victory, the Australian extended his lead in the overall championship points standings. Rockstar Makita Suzuki teammate Michael Byrne also had cause to celebrate.
Chad Reed captured his second AMA Motocross 450 class victory at Spring Creek Motocross Park in Millville, Minnesota, on Saturday afternoon (Round 7 – AMA Motocross Series). The two-time AMA Supercross Champion started the day by getting the holeshot in the first moto and finishing second. Then he completed the day by winning the second moto and taking the overall victory. Currently, Reed leads the overall championship points in AMA Motocross.
Rockstar Makita Suzuki teammate Michael Byrne also had a lot to celebrate at the Millville race.
Chad Reed extended his AMA Motocross championship points lead after carding another podium finish this year at Red Bud Track ‘N’ Trail in Buchanan, Michigan, on Saturday. The two-time AMA Supercross Champion picked up a second-place overall result after winning the first moto and finishing third in the second one. Rockstar Makita Suzuki teammate Michael Byrne enjoyed a very consistent race weekend.
Chad Reed celebrated his first AMA Motocross win in seven years and took over the championship points lead on Saturday afternoon at High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania. The two-time AMA Supercross Champion won both 30-minute 450 class motos to take the overall victory. Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Michael Byrne also had cause to celebrate at High Point. The Australian returned to racing from injury this season and has been slowly but surely rebuilding his strength.
Mike Alessi won his second-consecutive AMA Motocross race at Freestone County Raceway in Wortham, Texas, on Saturday afternoon. Formerly a runner-up at the Texas track, Alessi won both 30-minute motos to take the overall win and to pick up his second AMA Motocross victory of the season. This win allows Alessi to extend his lead in the overall championship points standings.
Mike Alessi celebrated his first career AMA Motocross 450-class victory and took over the points lead at the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Sacramento, California, on Saturday afternoon. Alessi rode two impressive motos on his Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z450, winning the first and finishing in the runner-up spot in the second.
Although that performance was enough to secure the overall victory, the winner of the second moto was penalized by the AMA, which gave Alessi 1-1 moto victories as well as the overall he’d already earned.
