Stage 10 of the Dakar 2011 went to KTM rider Marc Coma who was 9’56 ahead of Cyril Despres on his Red Bull KTM with Cyril’s teammate Ruben Faria third (at 13’22).

Marc Coma’s start to Stage 10 of the 2011 Dakar Rally wasn’t the best, but a mistake by fellow KTM rider Cyril Despres gave the Spaniard the victory on Wednesday. Taking third was another KTN 450 Rally rider, Ruben Faria.

After a mistake by his nemesis, Marc Coma took victory Wednesday at Stage 10 of the 33rd edition of the Dakar Rally. Due to his win aboard the KTM Rally 450, Coma has now extended his overall Dakar lead to 18:10 over his main challenger, Cyril Despres.
After having been announced winner of the sixth stage of the 2011 Dakar Rally, Ruben Faria on his Red Bull KTM motorcycle was finally reclassified 3rd following an race organizer timing error.
This meant that the Dakar motorcycle racing victory was passed to Helder Rodrigues with Cyril Despres second.
Dakar Rally victory on the last stage before the rest day went to the Portuguese rider Ruben Faria ahead of compatriot Helder Rodrigues (at 0’50) and Red Bull KTM team mate Cyril Despres (at 3’45).

For the second time in the 33rd edition of the 2011 Dakar Rally, Ruben Faria lost his victory. The first time for the KTM Rally 450 rider was after he was penalized for speeding during Stage 1, which dropped him back to second.

UPDATE: At the end of Stage 6, it was determined that Ruben Faria, the fastest rider of the special stage, did not respect the obligation to stop for 15 minutes during refueling.
