AMA Pro Racing today announced modifications that will begin with the 2010 AMA Pro Road Racing season. Though the basic rules for the AMA Pro National Guard American Superbike presented by Parts Unlimited, Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL and SuperSport presented by Shoei will remain unchanged, procedures will be modified to increase rider safety. In addition, AMA Pro will expand the SunTrust Moto-GT class structure and form advisory committees to better communicate with its key constituents.

The Atlantic City Tropicana Casino and Resort will be the host venue for the season-ending awards celebration on Labor Day Monday evening, Sept. 7. The black-tie optional banquet will honor this year’s champions and top performers in AMA Pro National Guard American Superbike presented by Parts Unlimited, AMA Pro Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL and AMA Pro SuperSport presented by Shoei.
Saturday’s AMA Pro Road Racing National Guard American Superbike presented by Parts Unlimited and Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL finals from the Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals at Virginia International Raceway will air tonight on SPEED Channel at 8:00 p.m. ET (5:00 p.m. PT).
A new name topped Friday’s Superpole qualifying session for the Honda Super Cycle Weekend presented by Dunlop Tires at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, as Josh Hayes put the No. 4 Yamaha Motor Corp. USA Yamaha R1 on pole position for the weekend’s AMA Pro National Guard American Superbike presented by Parts Unlimited doubleheader. AMA Pro Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL qualifying and Superpole sessions were rained out. Starting positions for the twin Daytona SportBike races will be set by tomorrow morning’s final qualifying session.
Officials from AMA Pro Racing announced today that the Buell 1125RR has been approved for competition in AMA Pro National Guard American Superbike presented by Parts Unlimited, and one of the new motorcycles is entered in this weekend’s Honda Super Cycle Weekend presented by Dunlop Tires at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
