2012 MotoGP Championship
Dunlop Motorsport, IRTA and Dorna Sports have signed a contract for the exclusive supply of tyres to the Moto3 Championship, a deal which will commence upon the introduction of the new category in 2012 and will run until the end of the 2014 season.
Corrado Cecchinelli has been appointed as the Director of Technology for the FIM MotoGP World Championship.
The experienced Italian will oversee and be responsible for all technical developments relating to the three World Championship categories: 125cc, Moto2 and MotoGP.
IRTA has recognised the fantastic event which was the third round of the 2009 MotoGP season at Jerez, by awarding the Spanish circuit the 26th annual Best Grand Prix award.
Over 120,000 fans were present at the Gran Premio bwin.com de España in May as Valentino Rossi took his first win of the season on his way to his ninth World Championship title, and the superb organisation of the event has led to the title of Best Grand Prix returning to the track.
The Selection Committee comprising delegates of the FIM, Dorna and IRTA met on the 5th November in Valencia to select the teams which will be invited to participate in 2010.
MotoGP: 125cc Class
A total of 15 teams with 28 riders were accepted.
MotoGP: Moto2 Class
A total of 23 teams with 37 riders were accepted. All of the accepted teams have confirmed their participation by lodging a security deposit with IRTA.
For both classes there is a list of reserve teams in case of any eventual withdrawals.
The Selection Committee comprising delegates of the FIM, Dorna and IRTA met on the 2nd October in Estoril to select the teams which will be invited to participate in 2010.

The Selection Committee comprising delegates from the FIM, Dorna and IRTA met on the 11th June to consider applications from teams wishing to participate in the Moto2 class in 2010.
It was decided to provisionally offer entries in this class to 27 teams (41 riders). A further 10 teams were placed on a reserve list and, regrettably, it was necessary to refuse applications from 10 teams.
By the deadline, IRTA have received valid applications from 47 teams requesting entries for a total of 91 riders. All of the applicants, with the exception of one team with two riders, have requested to participate with Moto2 machines.
The regular selection Committee composed of representatives of FIM, Dorna and IRTA will meet at the Catalunya Grand Prix (Spain) to establish the provisional Moto2 – 250cc entry list for 2010.
Due to adverse weather conditions, the MotoGP race at the Grand Prix of Qatar has been postponed.
Following discussions between FIM, IRTA, Dorna and the QMMF, a proposal was put to the MotoGP teams to run the race tomorrow evening. Thanks to a huge effort from all parties concerned, and out of respect to fans of motorsport around the world, it has been decided that the race will take place on Monday 13th April, 2009.
The warm-up will run at 6.30pm local time (GMT+3), with the race scheduled to start at 9pm.
