AMA Superbike: Race 1
Foremost Insurance Pegram Ducati pilot Larry Pegram finished 12th in the first of two races during the Virginia AMA Pro American Superbike weekend. An off-track excursion in the race took Pegram out of the top ten but the Ohio native continued to turn impressive lap times on his Ducati 1098R after running through the grass.
The winner of the two previous American Superbike races was disappointed in the result but positive about his chances in the second race on Sunday.

Jake Holden continued to impress with his privateer level equipment against the much costlier machines on the American Superbike grid. The Washington native continued his David versus Goliath assault on the American Superbike field. Although the Corona Honda team has been instrumental in getting Jake’s motorcycle from race to race, the motorcycle was purchased by Jake in a Honda dealership, and all costs involved in running the bike– including tires and fuel are paid for by Jake.
Foremost Insurance Pegram Ducati’s Larry Pegram completed the doubleheader sweep on Sunday, earning another victory at Heartland Park Topeka in Kansas. Larry dominated the American Superbike race on Saturday, but Sunday’s event was a close fight with Tommy Hayden that left the race win in jeopardy until the checkered flag.
Pegram, mounted on the Ducati 1098R, was able to earn victory by just 0.333 after the two traded the lead in the late laps.
