2013 AMA Supercross Onboard Video from Main Event
The Monster Energy AMA Supercross series took its only international stop of 2013, the SX riders vying for points Saturday evening at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada.
And although Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s Davi Millsaps suffered a knee injury during practice, the RM-Z 450 rider was able to take second in the main event.
Millsaps battled intensely with the front group, and led laps 2 through 11. But on lap 11, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto took the lead. Millsaps would challenge, but not be able to pass the reigning Supercross Champion.
Villopoto would take the Toronto Supercross win, followed by Millsaps and Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey. Villopoto now leads the 2013 Supercross Championship with 252 points, 12 ahead of Millsaps, after 12 of 17 rounds.
Davi Millsaps (Rockstar Energy Suzuki RM-Z 450 Supercross) says: “It’s definitely good to get a solid weekend under my belt; it’s been about 6 weeks for me. I have a weekend off now so I will have a lot of time to practice and get back to where I was. It was a great race for sure and Ryan Villopoto rode awesome.
“I just made a few mistakes here and there and he capitalised on it. He was obviously going faster than me tonight. All in all, from the past couple weekends to this weekend; I’m going in the right direction. It’s crazy how three days of riding a bike good helps so much. I block-passed him in the second turn and he knew I was there so he just had to stand up and let me go by. We’re riding clean. There’s no reason to get all stupid and punt each other and just be enemies for the next five rounds or two years…
“We’re riding clean and we’ll pass when we have to pass and block-pass when we have to block pass. As fast as we’re going, to take someone out is wrong. We have more respect than that. If it came down to the championship, I think we’d both try but nothing stupid.”
