James Stewart to Miss Washougal Motocross

Since James Stewart swept High Point Motocross, he has had nothing but bad luck. And this luck worsened further last weekend at the Spring Creek National in Millville, Minn.

There, the Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 pilot suffered a crash in the first moto, but was able to finish seventh. Stewart lined up for the second moto, and began. The race was then red flagged due to some of the gates not working correctly.

But when the field line up once again, Stewart felt “disoriented and dizzy,” and decided to sit out the second moto. The team has not stated what has caused the illness.

And on Friday, the Yoshimura Suzuki team confirmed that the two-time AMA Supercross Champion will not race this weekend at the Washougal MX Park in Washougal, Wash. Due to not feeling well, Stewart has opted out of round nine in hopes of recovering for round 10 – the Unadilla National.

“It’s been a tough few weeks,” said Yoshimura Suzuki Team Manager Mike Webb. “Since James’ sweep at High Point we’ve been dealt a good bit of bad luck. Add to that his retirement from the second moto last week for health reasons, we feel it’s best to sit out Washougal. That will give us an extra weekend to rest up and get ready to come back strong at Unadilla.”

Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s next race will be round 10 of the 2014 AMA Pro Motocross Championships on Saturday, August 9th, at the Unadilla National in New Berlin, NY.

After eight of 12 rounds, Stewart is fourth in the point standings, 141 points behind the current leader, Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen.
