Suzuki GSX-R 600, 750, 1000 Recall
Suzuki has recalled 210,228 of its 2004-2013 GSX-R 600 and GSX-R 750 models, and 2005-2013 GSX-R 1000 models, due to front brake master cylinder issues.
Suzuki says in combination with older brake fluid, corrosion of the brake piston inside of the front brake master cylinder generates gas that may result in a reduction of fluid pressure transmission to the front brake.
If this occurs, braking power may be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.
Suzuki will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake master cylinder, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on November 4, 2013. Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-800-572-1490. Suzuki’s campaign numbers for this recall are: 2A (31, 32, 33, 34, 35, and 36).
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to safercar.gov.
