2014 Ride for Kids Cycle World IMS Project Bike Winner
For the seconds consecutive year, Cycle World has teamed up with Ride for Kids to build a project Honda CBR1000RR to raffle off.
The Honda CBR1000RR was publicized at the Progressive International Motorcycle Shows and other events, and would have a significant impact on society.
All proceeds from the raffle headed directly to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
And this year, Greg Dedman of Bothell, Wash., won the CBR. Dedman bought his ticket at the Seattle International Motorcycle Show. Ride for Kids says Dedman is a longtime Harley owner, but after winning said “I’m a Honda rider now!”
Ride for Kids says when PBTF staff called Dedman to let him know he had won the custom Honda CBR1000RR, he pulled his car to the side of the road and couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“No kidding. You’re not pulling my leg?” he said. “I was just doing a good thing for a good cause.” Dedman said the cause is close to his heart. His wife is a pediatric healthcare provider who helps children with disabilities.
Dedman plans to ride the motorcycle in the Puget Sound Ride for Kids in September.
2014 Ride for Kids / Cycle World CBR Drawing Proceeds
Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts saw the bike on the International Motorcycle Shows circuit and in the Honda tent at Daytona. This year’s drawing raised $32,525 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Since the first drawing in 2000, the drawing has raised more than $757,502 to help eliminate the challenges of childhood brain tumors, Ride for Kids reports.
