May 2014 BMW Motorrad USA Sales
After reporting months of positive sales, BMW Motorrad USA says motorcycle and maxi-scooter sales were down 6 percent for the month of May, 2014.
BMW Motorrad reports that in May 2014, a total of 1,701 motorcycles and maxi-scooters were sold compared to 1,809 sold in May 2012. Though a negative number, BMW Motorrad continues to outperform its sales so far this year; sales are up 10.7 percent in the first five months of 2014 compared to 2013.
As for model-specific sales in the US, the three new-for-2014 boxer models fueled growth of 38 percent in R-Series. The R 1200 GS Adventure the top-selling model with 233 sold. Next arrives the R 1200 RT and the R 1200 GS, with 227 and 197 units sold respectively. With 188 sales of the new R NineT Roadster, BMW Motorrad USA delivered 930 boxers in May 2014 compared to 675 in May 2013.
With 311 retails compared to 266 last year, S-Series performance increased by 17 percent with the HP4 up 22 percent in the month with 50 deliveries compared to 41 in May of 2013.
