The Barcelona media was the first to see Marc Marquez and his Moto2 machine in 2011 colors, as the 18-year-old Spaniard unveiled the team’s livery at La Pedrera Monday.
The rider of Cervera (Lleida) is only entering his fourth year of motorcycle racing in the World Championship, and has already won the 125cc MotoGP Championship (2010).
Marc Marquez (Repsol Moto2) says: "I am very happy that we can see the bike with the new colours, I was looking forward to riding it with the final livery. When you ride such a beautiful bike, it is even more exciting. First of all, I want to thank Repsol and Catalunya Caixa for their support.
"The bike is very nice-looking, it looks like Dani’s MotoGP, with Repsol colours and also with the Catalunya Caixa colours. I am very excited about this project and I am looking forward to start. For the moment everything looks fine and now I have to be fast on the track."
Throughout his World Championship Motorcycle Racing career in which he entered at 15, Marquez has kept the support of the Repsol Energy company, and as the unity enters its first year together in Moto2, things have already progressed.
Marquez quickly adapted to the Moto2 machine, being at the top of the time sheets in all pre-season tests in Montmeló, Cheste, Estoril and Jerez. Marquez’s progress is enhanced by the held of his experienced Repsol team, which includes ex-rider Emilio Alzamora and the technical manager, Santi Hernandez.
The official Repsol Moto2 launch was attended by a broad representation of Repsol, spearheaded by its Executive Director for Communication and Chairman’s office, Begona Elices.
Begona Elices (Executive Director for Communication and Chairman’s office of Repsol) says: "At only just 18, Marc Márquez has become a reference in the high-level competition world. Marc perfectly represents many of the values of a company such as Repsol: effort, team work, optimism, talent, thoroughness… We have supported him for some years now and we are excited about this new stage of his career at the Moto2 category."
After more than 40 years in the high-level competition world, Repsol will continue its presence in MotoGP with the only three-man team (Dani Pedrosa, Andrea Dovizioso and Casey Stoner).
In the 125cc class of the Spanish Road Racing Championship, Repsol is again showing it’s support of future stars. The class will feature two talents for 2011: Alex Rins and Álex Marquez, Marc’s younger brother.
The official launch was attended by a broad representation of Repsol, spearheaded by its Executive Director for Communication and Chairman’s office, Begoña Elices.
On Friday, Marquez will be at the final pre-season Moto2 tests in Jerez before the opening round of the MotoGP Championship at Losail Circuit in Qatar on March 20.
