Following his first win of 2014 Monster Energy Supercross at San Diego, James Stewart has extended his contract with Yoshimura Suzuki.

The Floridan – a two-time SX Champion – joined the Yoshimura outfit in mid 2012, and will continue to compete on the team’s RM-Z450 in AMA Supercross and AMA Motocross through 2015.

“Working with James has been a tremendously gratifying experience. We’ve really begun gelling as a team and I feel like we’re just now approaching our true potential,” said Mike Webb Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing Team Manager.

“Everyone at Yoshimura Suzuki is looking forward to working with James through the 2014 and 2015 racing seasons, and possibly beyond.”

After taking his win last weekend at San Diego – his first since Atlanta SX last season – Stewart moved to fourth overall in the standings with 11 rounds remaining. Besides taking his 46th career win on the RM-Z450, Stewart also won three heat races and took two additional second-place finishes.

“I’m really happy to keep racing with Yoshimura Suzuki,” said James Stewart. “It was great to get that first win at San Diego last weekend. I feel more comfortable than ever with the team and we’ve gotten the set-up on the Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 dialed in to where I feel really good on the bike. This year, we’ve made a lot of progress as a team and I’m looking forward to keeping that momentum going through the rest of the year and next season.”

The next round for Stewart and the Yoshimura team is this Saturday, Feb. 15, round 7 of the Monster Energy Supercross in Arlington, Texas.
