Honda CB500 and CBR500 Motorcycle Recall
Honda has recalled 6.954 of its 2013 CB500F standard, CB500X adventure, and CBR500R sport motorcycles due to rocker-arm bolt issues. Honda says the listed models with ABS are also affected.
Honda says the rocker arm shaft retaining bolts may have been manufactured incorrectly. Due to ill manufacturing, the bolts may loosen during operation. A small engine-oil leak may initially appear, but, if not addressed, the bolt may entirely come out of the cylinder head.
If the bolt comes out, the engine may stall, increasing the risk of a crash, Honda says.
Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rocker arm shaft retaining bolts, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in March 2014. Owners may contact Honda Customer Service at 1-866-784-1870.
