For an ultra-premium experience, try a ride into the highlands of Jalisco, the finest tequila-producing region of Mexico and the home of Hacienda del Patrón.
It is here, in this 400,000-square-foot distillery, that one of the world’s most sophisticated spirits is made by hand.
Founded in 1989 by fellow motorcycle rider John Paul DeJoria and Martin Crowley, the Patrón company has not only established an elite luxury drink, but has also simultaneously transformed the image of tequila all over the world.
As the first spirit to receive the Five Star Diamond Award from the American Academy of Hospitality Services, Patrón’s master distiller, Francisco Alcaraz then perfected two of the world’s most highly regarded sipping tequilas-Gran Patrón Platinum in 2004 and Gran Patrón Burdeos in 2007.
Aged for a minimum of 12 months, this limited production añejo tequila is distilled again before being racked in vintage French Bordeaux barrels with the fine flavors of vanilla, raisins, and dried fruit.
The presentation consists of a handcrafted crystal bottle set inside a display box carved from single piece of black walnut. "Our passion for excellence and perfection," says Alcaraz of the process, "guides everything we do."
Further substantiating its success in the global spirits market, the Patrón Spirits Company produces Pyrat sipping rums bottled in the Caribbean and Ultimate Polish vodka, now available in some of the finest restaurants, bars and hotels worldwide.
The company is also a presenting sponsor for the American Le Mans Series, as well as a partner of the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States in its efforts to combat underage drinking.
