Ducati 1199 Panigale R
Ducati most sophisticated superbike by far, the 1199 Panigale, was released in an “R” version for 2013.
The 1199 Panigale R was improved upon by Ducati Corse for homologation in World Superbike. The 1199 R is basically an “S” model with a host of race-specific enhancements, highlighted by a light weight of 367.3 lbs. (with ABS), a three-percent increase in power, and a four-point adjustable swingarm.
Speaking of the new 1199 Panigale R, Ducati says “born of the world of competitive racing, the 1199 Panigale R is an exclusive and treasured interpretation of man’s passion for the racetrack: titanium piston rods, carbon fibre bodywork, Ducati Performance racing exhaust and livery inspired by the Ducati Corse. Perfection was never so close.”
This week, Ducati launched the Ducati 1199 R at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, a circuit that will host the second round of the 2013 MotoGP Championship.
To help launch the bike, Ducati used two of its top American MotoGP stars – Ducati Team’s Nicky Hayden and Pramac Ignite Ducati’s Ben Spies (Hayden & Spies 1199 R Photo Gallery).
