Popular road racing star Davy Morgan has confirmed he intends to enter the 2011 Isle of Man TT with a Superbike and Supersport machine, but he is looking for a competitive Superstock to race.
The Saintfield racer is working hard to pull things together for the 2011 season. After a successful 2010, when he was back to his best, Morgan is in a positive frame of mind as he looks forward to the year ahead.
It is currently planned to enter the TT, North West 200, Ulster Grand Prix, Southern 100 and as many Scarborough and national Irish as the budget and calendar allow.
Morgan is also considering Horice, the Manx Grand Prix and the possibility of select short circuit events in England.
Morgan and his team were hoping to continue with a similar set-up to 2010, with the Strangford Holiday Park GSXR1000 Suzuki, CSC Racing R6 Yamaha, his own 250cc Honda and to replace the team’s Superstock R1 Yamaha with one of the new ZX10 Kawasakis.
Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, the plans have changed as Morgan and the team work the budget as well as possible to complete a full year of racing and not have to miss sme events.
On the machine front Morgan is pleased loyal sponsors Trevor Matthewson and Steve/Chris Caffyn will again be supplying and helping with the running costs of the Strangford Holiday Park GSXR1000 Suzuki and CSC Racing R6 Yamaha respectively, and both machines are currently being refreshed and/or upgraded for 2011. Morgan said it is hoped they will again be competitive, although a bit more luck with the R6 in 2011 would be welcome!
The team will also run Morgan’s own 250cc Honda under the Davy Morgan #71 Road Race Supporters Club banner, but, unless a title sponsor can be brought on-board for this machine so that the Supporters Club money can be released in to the general running costs of the team, Morgan may have to be a bit more selective on where he rides the 250 this year.
Plans for a replacement Superstock machine have had to be shelved, so if anyone has or knows someone with a competitive Superstock bike and needs an experience rider at the TT, North West 200 and possibly the Ulster Grand Prix, Morgan would like to hear from them.
All the machines will continue to be in the yellow, red and black livery and they, along with the team van and transporter, will once again be some of the best presented in the road race paddocks with all the painting and graphics designed, prepared, produced and applied for a second year by the experts at 01RaceFX.
