World Superbike Video
The 2011 World Superbike grid is loaded with competitive teams from seven different manufacturers. And one that’s expected to be a top contender this year is the Castrol Honda team.
This YouTube video shows the progress of the Castrol Honda Team as it preps for 2011 WSBK, from the launch of the CBR1000RR, to teammates Jonathan Rea and Ruben Xaus discussing the upcoming season.
The factory Honda riders were upset with the conditions at the first official test of 2011 World Superbike at Portimao. The test was plagued by rain, not allowing Rea or Xaus the opportunity to test new parts on the Honda CBR.
The team is now preparing for the final pre-season test Feb. 21-22. Like last year, the tests will be at the venue that will also host the first round of the year, Phillip Island in Victoria, Australia.
Castrol returned to World Superbike this year as title sponsor, which the oil company hasn’t been since 2002. While Castrol has maintained support of Hondaʼs annual WSBK championship effort in recent years, its previous title sponsorship of the Castrol Honda team generated no fewer than three world titles, with John Kocinski in 1997 and then twice with fellow American rider Colin Edwards in 2000 and 2002.
