BMW Motorrad USA December 2013 Sales
Once BMW Motorrad crunched its November worldwide motorcycle-sales numbers, the Bavarian manufacturer reported it had already broke its yearly record.
With one month remaining, BMW had sold 106,358 motorcycles and maxi scooters – a number that was 2,514 units higher than its total 2012 yearly sales.
When we reported on this, BMW Motorrad Head of Sales and Marketing Heiner Faust attributed much of this success due to large sales in the USA. And these large sales continued for the month of December when the BMW Motorrad USA dealer network sold 1,101 motorcycles and maxi scooters, which was up 19.9 percent from the 918 units sold in December 2012. This makes 2013 the second best year in Motorrad’s history in the US.
Globally, BMW Motorrad reported selling 14,179 motorcycles and maxi scooters in December, up 17.6 percent in 2012; a report will follow.
Much of the success in the US was attributed to overall sales of the 2013 BMW R 1200 GS – the first semi-water cooled model – and the F 800 GT.
BMW Motorrad says it is already looking forward to an all-time record in 2014 with the introduction of 5 new models planned in the first quarter, including the revamped S1000R naked sportbike.
