Josh Herrin #2 Moto2 News
The second official Moto2 test began Tuesday, allowing the only American entry Josh Herrin to garner some more experience aboard his Caterham Suter machine.
Due to damp conditions, the reigning AMA SuperBike Champion remained off the Spanish circuit for the morning session of the three-day test. He did participate in the afternoon sessions, mostly working on his dry setup and lap times, his team reports.
When Tuesday’s test ended, the rookie Herrin posted a best lap of 1:44.951, which was 2.204 seconds off the top time (Marc VDS Racing’s Esteve Rabat). As for Herrin’s teammate, Johann Zarco was only 0.254 of Rabat’s time.
Speaking of the test, Josh Herrin said “after lunch the track conditions improved and we were able to work on getting a good set up for the rest of the test. As Jerez is one of the GP tracks that I have experience of, I would like to concentrate on improving my lap times here and getting closer to the front.”
During last weekend’s first official Moto2 test at Valencia, Herrin finished 1.411 seconds off the top time, which was also set by Rabat. Herrin will be back on the Jerez circuit Wednesday for the second day of testing.
