2014 World Supersport
Following a year competing for TYCO Suzuki in the 2013 British Superbike Championship, the American PJ Jacobsen has joined the World Supersport Championship for 2014.
Jacobsen, who earned his first BSB podium at Assen in September and finished ninth overall in 2013, will compete in 2014 World Supersport aboard the Intermoto Ponyexpres Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R sportbike. As of this writing, Jacobsen will be the only American in 2014 WSS.
The Czech-based Intermoto Ponyexpres is an established team, and in 2013 World Superbike, it earned fourth-place finishes with Luca Scassa and David Salom and the controls of the Kawasaki ZX-10R.
Jacobsen, a former AMA Sportbike Racer, also had wins in British Superstock 1000 class (Donington Park) and British Supersport (Assen). The team was recently happy with Jacobsen’s performance on the new Kawasaki ZX-6R at Aragon testing.
PJ Jacobsen (Intermoto Ponyexpres Kawasaki ZX-6R Supersport) says: “This is an incredibly exciting opportunity. I’ll be racing in front of some of the world’s most enthusiastic fans with some of the world’s best racers, on one of the world’s best motorcycles. It’s really an honor to have this opportunity. I’d like to thank all my sponsors and fans who have helped me get to this level.”
PJ will live in Europe for the season, but does not yet have a firm plan. He is currently training in the US and flying to Europe for tests and consultations with the team.
