When you’re in the saddle of your favorite motorcycle, it’s easy to enjoy your passion, whether it’s a sport bike, chopper or old school bobber. Now, you have a way to show your true colors to your neighbors and friends with a Farrell Design weathervane by Swen Weathervanes.
What makes these weathervanes unique is the way designer Russ Farrell takes flat 16-gauge steel and transforms it into a dynamic piece of art, ready to be installed on your roof or in your garden. Russ has been fascinated with all things motorized since he was 12 years old, and growing up he was involved in everything from riding dirt bikes to drag racing hot rods. In fact, in the early ‘70s, Russ was one of the first ever to create a mini-bike chopper.
Taking his life-long love of hot rods, Harleys and all things motorized, after a 20 year career as an artist at Disney Studios, Russ opened his own design studio, focusing on his passion: automotive and motorcycle art. His first weathervane designs focused on timeless classics – a ’57 Chevy, ’65 Corvette, Chopped ’49 Mercury, ’65 Mustang, as well as his whimsical design, "When Pigs Fly," and a tribute to the good ole USA.
Russ has just expanded his motorcycle designs to include a classic Bobber, stretched out Chopper, a Sport Bike leaned over in a turn, and his latest design – a freestyle motocrosser all crossed up mid-air.
Each weathervane is designed to stand up to the elements. They’re laser cut out of 16 gauge steel, then feature a baked-on powder coat finish to ensure it continues looking cool season after season. They also have a sealed stainless steel sealed ball bearing windcup so they twist in the wind. They’re available with hardware for roof-gable mount, flat mount, side mount, or garden mount (they really look awesome accenting your yard). And once you have the mount installed, the tops are interchangeable. Roof top units measure 29-in. tall; yard units measure 66-in. tall.
