REV’IT! Chronos GTX Review
Loaded with more features than most ADV owners will likely utilize, the Chronos GTX is a wonderfully cut piece of gear that is great for nearly every form of riding – whether a quick trek to the store or a long one across the country, you’re set.
One of the main features of the REV’IT! Chronos GTX – and most definitely one of its standout aspect – is the separate GORE-TEX inner softshell jacket that functions as a waterproof and warming mid-layer.
With the inner jacket installed, you’ll be protected from the elements – whatever those might be on your adventures. When off the bike, the inner layer will also keep you warm; it doubles as a great around-town, light-weight jacket as well. Of course, both the inner and outer jackets feature double long, as well as, double short connection zippers, to your riding pants.

In sunny, Southern California weather, we typically don’t see temperatures that are terribly low, but on chilly mornings or evenings, the softshell inner jacket is an absolute godsend. Without overheating, it keeps the rider quite comfortable. And in the warmer weather, 70 (F) and above, it isn’t comparable to wearing a jacket in a sauna either, which some ADV clothing can quickly mimic.
The outer shell, in terms of technology is, quite impressive. Comprised of a Polyamide yarn that helps with ventilation, you’ll also be seeing Dynax mesh that features a high melting point, along with high tear and abrasion resistance. Also present is PWR shell 500D stretch with Teflon coating and Lorica. All in all, there is a massive amount of energy put into helping you fare well in virtually any weather condition.
Ventilation is readily available, and found across the chest back and sleeves. With that, you’ll also find four pockets on the exterior, two interior, and a repeat of those numbers on the inner, softshell jacket. In terms of storage, you’ll never run out of areas to store keys, phones, snacks and whatever other items you need to carry.
All of the zippers function well with a gloved hand, as well as all of your snaps. Ease of use in the field seems to be a common theme with REV’IT! Chronos GTX and of course, your cuff, collar, hip and bicep are fully adjustable.
Aside from protection from the weather, there’s much protection from physical harm, including ProLife CE armor in the forearm and shoulder. In terms of back protection, the inner jacket makes use of a “soft backer” that is great for everyday use. For more aggressive riding, we recommend a more substantial back protector. Additionally, the jacket is ready to accept the REV’IT! Challenger cooling vest insert, for those of you who will be riding in hot weather.
The Chronos GTX is a premium level ADV jacket, whether or not you choose to wear it out on the trails or on the road, is up to you. But REV’IT! has built a jacket that surprisingly, can do it all. Currently, the jacket is available in a full range of sizes and in two colors: Black and Light Grey. It sells for around $670; for additional information, please visit REV’IT!
